FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences(COPPS) Ambassadors serve as mentors to pre-professional pharmacy mentee groups in addition to children within the community of Tallahassee from local elementary, middle, and high schools. COPPS Ambassadors aim to fulfill three main objectives: Community Service Outreach, Pre-Professional Outreach, and establish a successful Tallahassee to FAMU COPPS pipeline.
Furthermore, COPPS Ambassadors recently partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Big Bend(BGCBB) to create a larger platform for mentoring. Additionally, this creates weekly volunteer opportunities for the members of the organization. Currently we have two sites, Oakridge Elementary School and NIMS Middle School, where we mentor weekly. Mentoring entails but not limited to:
- Assistance with afterschool programs
- Teaching fundamentals of reading, writing, and mathematics
COPPS Ambassadors will continue to increase the visibility of COPPS throughout Leon County as the organization expands each year.
