I am Ebony Nottingham and I am currently attending Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University as a doctoral candidate in the area of Pharmaceutical Sciences with a concentration in Pharmaceutics. I am from Fort Valley, Georgia and received my Bachelor’s Degree from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. I have been attending FAMU since 2015 as a doctoral student in the Pharmaceutical Sciences program concentrating in Pharmaceutics. My goals as a cancer researcher involve understanding the underlying mechanisms cancer cells use to evade apoptosis and developing more target specific delivery vehicles to decrease the toxicity of many treatments that have the potential to effectively treat them. As a graduate student my current focus is on chemotherapeutic resistance and upon graduation I hope to be given the opportunity to continue this research while also inspiring others in my community to pursue a career in the field as well.
